Many changes happened in 1958. Perhaps, the biggest change in the Catholic Church was the Cardinals electing John XXIII as the new pope. He instigated a lot of change in the church with Vatican II and The Ecumenical Council. President Dwight D. Eisenhower was beginning his second term. Unfortunately, the country was going through a recession at that time. But, his plan to build interstates that crossed our country saw its beginning during this time. World-wide - China began a devastating 3- year famine where an estimated 40 million people died. However, there were a lot of fun things about that time: Elvis had 3 number-one hits...and was inducted into the army. Arnold Palmer won his first Master's Tournament and..., yes, the Yankees won the World Series! So, the Class of 1958, graduated and drove away in their new, sporty Impala. Now, it is time to get into that vintage Impala out of mothballs and take a ride down memory lane...
