Summer Reading 2010 - Scare Up a Good Book
By the flickering fire of a fake campfire, Taleypo the Storyteller conjures up some fun, scary stories. Every session is tailored to the audience with age-appropriate, tantalizing tales. If there is a mixed-age audience, the fun stories come first with a warning that scary stories will be forthcoming.
For the iddy-biddies there's Harry and the Terrible Whatzit, The Humpback Gorribles, Dark, Dark Night, and more...
For the not-so faint-of-heart there is The Hobyahs, Tailypo, Demon Goat, The Ghost With One Black Eye, and more...
For the brave-hearted there is Coyote Faces the Fire Beings, Le Pont Diable, The Monkey's Paw, and more...

Since 2002, Experimental Archaeologist, Larry Kinsella, and his wife, Storyteller, Marilyn Kinsella (aka Taleypo, the Storyteller) have combined their talents to produce informative, entertaining, hands-on programs for schools, libraries, museums, and special events. In each of the programs, Marilyn starts with a story that has many of the objects that Larry has replicated and used as an experimental archaeologist. Then, Larry gives a short history and demonstrates the of uses of the stone tools/fire-making/weapons. Marilyn concludes the program with another story related to the theme. A Question and Answer session follows each one-hour program. The programs are geared toward third grade thru Adult. However, with some adjustments, the Kinsellas have successfully given the program to K-2nd grades.
For 2010, the Kinsellas present Stories 'n Stones Scary Stories 'Round the Fire. Marilyn tells Coyote and the Fire Beings and Larry demonstrates making fire by rubbing sticks together and other ancient ways of making fire. Larry will need to be outside or by an open door to the outside to do the full fire demo. Marilyn then tells The Whistling Tsonaquas. Question and Answers at the end. This program is appropriate for most elementary and middle school students.
