Storytell was once again challenged by Greg Leifel to come up with a folk or fairy tale bio story. This story is a combination of an English folktale and a recurring dream I've had over the years about discovering an empty room in a house where I have lived. I chose to tell Mr. Fox with a happily ever after...

Lady Marilyn was young and Lady Marilyn was fair. She had more lovers than she could count. But, the one she loved best and by far was Mr. Fox. She decided one day to go in search of his castle. She found it just as he had promised. It rose tall and dark against the blue sky, shiny turrets, and a moat that ran all around. As she approached the drawbridge, she read some words etched onto the archway...Be Bold, Be Bold. Well Lady Marilyn certainly was bold, so she crossed that bridge. She saw a huge wooden door and upon it she read...Be Bold, Be Bold.,,but, not too bold. She knocked and hearing no answer, she went inside. What she saw astounded her.

For this castle had long dark hallways that seemingly led to nowhere. Moving, as if in on Escher staircase, she opened one door after the other marveling at the new and exciting vistas each held. Some were festooned with wild characters and shadows of the past. Others held scenes of despicable horror while others fairly trippled along with sweetness and light. Then, there was that one door. It said "Be bold, Be Bold, but not too bold... lest your heart's blood run cold." What could it be? She gingerly opened it to find an empty room....void of any furniture. Suddenly, it all became crystal clear.

She looked out a window and saw Mr. Fox approaching. Quickly she hid behind a trunk and waited until he came inside and disappeared on the strange staircase.

The next morning at their engagement breakfast, Lady Marilyn told Mr. Fox about a strange dream she had about his castle. Mr. Fox was aghast. "But it was not so, and it is not so...it was but a dream."

"Yes, Mr Fox! A dream! My dream come true. A house filled with stories."

"But, I don't understand," said Mr. Fox. "What about that empty room?"

"That's the best of all. That's our story ready to be decorated with our adventures."

So, Lady Marilyn gave Mr. Fox her hand in marriage as he slipped a beautiful glittering red ring on her finger.

This story ended happily ever after as they continue to this very day opening new doors, exploring new lands, telling more stories. They were married 41 years on April 14th!
