So many changes have taken place in the first year. Drew has grown from a little baby into a full-grown toddler. Her dark hair disappeared around 7 months but was replaced with a honey blond that curls around the edges. She is still my little kewpie, though. She can crawl at a record-breaking hundred miles an hour. So, we had to put up barriers around the house to keep her corralled in two rooms. She also can "walk" on her knees all the way across the room. At times she acts like a little puppy dog chasing an imaginary tale. Her kisses are often and her laughter is contagious. She loves the water - taking baths and getting misted by the garden hose. Her favorite toys at Grandma's are her purple ball that she learned early on to throw across the room, a car that friend gave her for her birthday that she likes to crawl in and out and honk the horn, and the "sparkly" bee book, "Whizzy Izzy," that she crawls over to her Grandma with it in her hand to read over and over. As she begins her second year, she is beginning to toddle across the room. She does not want anyone holding her hands, though, when she walks. If you do, she plops right down. She will walk in her own good time on her terms. She really doesn't cry too often. She seems to have an adventuresome spirit and doesn't mind a bump or bonk. At 11 months she scaled the stairs at Art's house in Las Vegas. Sometimes, she likes to sing "Glack-gloom went the little green frog"- even if it does come out more like "gluk, gluk, gluk!" She also says "up" and "ma-ma." I guess I'd have to say that one of her baby tricks that just makes me smile is when she knows she's doing something she shouldn't and she looks over her shoulder with that cute "are you watching me?" look. And her boo-boo faces! When she gets ready to cry, her bottom lip jets out, and that just makes us laugh - then, she forgets to cry. There was a song that always gave her a boo-boo face. When her Aunt Amy or Mommy would sing in a deep voice "Land of the Lost," there came that bottom lip. She also danced to a commercial tune that came on TV. Her mommy would imitate it and Drew would begin to dance. I hope she gets her mommy's rhythm! Many new surprises will unfold as our little Drew, draws on her second year...
